At the end of 2006 former Bolt Thrower/Pestilence/Asphyx-singer Martin van Drunen, ex-Houwitser bass player Theo van Eekelen, Gorefest-drummer Ed Warby and both Thanatos-guitarists Paul Baayens and Stephan Gebédi hooked up for a serious drinking session in the city of Amersfoort, Holland. A mutual love for old school death metal bands like Autopsy, Bolt Thrower, Massacre, Celtic Frost and Death resulted in the idea to form a band together. Easier said than done, cause the band members’ other bands Asphyx, Thanatos and especially Gorefest are very active recording albums and playing loads of shows. Not to mention Ed’s studio projects.

Nevertheless, all five of us were very enthusiastic about the idea, and we started writing material for this new band. Another problem was finding a suitable name for the band. It seems every possible name had already been taken by bands we never heard of and probably nobody will ever hear from again. After tons of ideas and suggestions we settled for Hail Of Bullets. The metal started flowing and within a couple of months we already had enough material written for a full length album.

In July 2007 the band decided to record four songs for a promo CD. Drums and vocals were recorded at the Excess studios in Rotterdam, Holland. Swedish death metal guru Dan Swanö mixed the four songs at his Unisound Studios and the result turned out pretty monstrous. As Swanö himself stated; ,,If this promo doesn’t get you guys a good record deal, I will eat my laptop!” Dan's stomach is still in good shape since Metal Blade Records didn't hesitate to sign the band. Our debut album '...Of Frost And War' was released in May 2008 and the reactions from both fans and press were quite overwhelming!

In the Summer of 2008 the band played a number of festival shows, including Party.San, Summer Breeze and Waldrock and in the Fall we started doing club shows all over Europe. More club shows and festivals are planned for 2009 and at the end of this year the band will start working on their second album...

Aus den tiefsten Winkeln Schottlands kommen ALESTORM, eine Gruppe bestehend aus drei angetrunkenen,verrückten Schotten und einem beschwipsten Iren, die sich auf eine epische Reise gemacht hat, um Poser zu erschlagen, Bier zu trinken und natürlich, um die beste Band zu werden, die jemals die Sieben Weltmeere befahren hat.

Alestorm spielen eine Mischung aus Folk und Power Metal im Stile von Turisas und Korpiklaani – allerdings mit einer guten Portion an Säbeln, Enterhaken und Rum! Eine mitreißende Mixtur, welche die Freibeuter als „True Scottish Pirate Metal“ bezeichnen.

Alestorm sind auf dem Weg, um Euch live gehörig in den Hintern zu treten und massenweise Kaugummi zu kauen, doch jetzt ist den Piraten der Kaugummi ausgegangen.

Die Band wurde 2006 gegründet und erspielte sich eine große Fanbase im lokalen Underground. Es dauerte nicht lange und ALESTORM unterschrieben einen Plattenvertrag bei Napalm Records. Einige Line-Up Wechsel später, steht nun eine gefestigte Formation der polternden Piraten für die Kapferfahrten bereit:

Mit einem breit gefächerten musikalischen Background (z.B. Bal-Sagoth, Turisas,…), veröffentlichten ALESTORM ihre Debüt „CAPTAIN MORGAN’S REVENGE“ und ernteten dafür überwältigendes Feedback. Nachdem sich die Band nun auch einen Ruf als atemberaubende Live-Band erspielt hat (was Auftritte auf den größten Metal Festival bestätigen), kehren die Piraten nun mit ihrem neuen Album „BLACK SAILS AT MIDNIGHT“ zurück. „Black Sails at Midnight“ bietet erneut mitreißenden Scottish Pirate Metal, der eine wahre Schatzkiste für Seeräuber darstellt. Unwiderstehliche Mitgrölrefrains von Backbord, beschwingte Keyboardmelodien und harte Metalriffs von Steuerbord gestalten die Grundlage dieser hoch explosiven und rumgeschwängerten Metal-Mischung.

Ohrwürmer wie „Keelhauled“ oder „The Quest“ wurden mit authentischen Instrumenten (Violine, Hörner,…) veredelt, die dem Rohdiamanten den letzten Schliff geben.

Produzent Lasse Lammert (LSD Studio) verpasste „Black Sails at Midnight“ einen charakteristischen wie druckvollen Sound, der ihm viele Frauen und große Reichtümer von Captain Morgan persönlich einbrachte. Das Mastering wurde von James Murphy übernommen, der schon bei Death, Obituary und auch Testament wahre Wunder vollbrachte. Die Limited Edition des neuen Albums enthält eine Bonus DVD mit dem kompletten Wacken Auftritt der Freibeuter von 2008. Lasst die Kaperfahrten beginnen –
